I’m definitely loving this warmer weather and the spring energy in the school. It’s hard to believe there are only six weeks of classes left. Students are encouraged to stay focused and finish the school year strong – attend all their classes, give learning their full attention, and talk to teachers about progress or concerns if there are any.
Course selection for next year went smoothly and is now complete. We will now start working on our timetable for next year and then begin creating student schedules. Our hope is to have those ready by the end of June.
Here are a few things on the horizon . . .
Grade 12 Provincial Exam Dates
ELA: May 27-30
Pre-Cal Math: June 11
Essential Math: June 12
Yearbooks
2023-24 yearbooks can now be pre-ordered at the school office. They are $45 and we accept cash or cheques made out to Niverville High School. Yearbook fees will not be added to the student portal. Yearbooks are expected to arrive by the end of June.
Asian Heritage Month
Our Student Action Group has planned a variety of educational and interactive activities throughout the month of May to increase students’ knowledge of Asian cultures. The various events will highlight the significance of Asian Heritage Month and raise awareness about issues affecting Asian communities, such as racism, discrimination, and stereotypes. This student-led initiative also empowers students to become active agents of change and advocates for diversity and inclusion.
Indigenous People’s Celebration – Friday, May 24
This day will provide an awareness of Indigenous heritage, language, and traditional knowledge. Students will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, reflections, and activities that explore themes related to Indigenous culture and reconciliation. If there are any parents or community members that feel they have gifts to share, or would like to participate in the day in some way, please reach out to the school by phone or email (204-388-9761 or nhs@hsd.ca).
Spring Concert – Thursday, May 30 @ 7:00 PM
Please join us for an hour of band and choir performances showcasing the musical talents of our students.
