It’s November! Hard to believe we’re already here, with only a few short weeks until Christmas break. Here at Niverville High School, things have been bustling. We’re wrapping up Spirit Week, and it’s been wonderful to see students dressing up and embracing the themes. The school spirit and culture is truly fantastic to see! GO TEAM PINK (Teachers)!!!
During November, we set aside time to remember those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. We are preparing a school Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 7 th as students are learning about our veterans from the past and present, as well as the significance of the poppy and why it is worn in the month of November.
First term report cards will once again be emailed out to families on Monday November 18th. Please read your child(ren)’s reports together and celebrate the strengths your child(ren) exhibit in their learning, as well as go over the challenges that they may need some support with. Next steps will give you guidance as to what is up and coming for your child as they acquire new skills in academics, art, music, and physical education.
Our fall Parent Teacher conferences are happening on Thursday November 21st and we hope to see you there! Please book those appointments on the parent portal. We highly encourage parent engagement at Parent Teacher Conferences. This opportunity fosters stronger collaboration and communication between teachers, parents, and students.
Here are some key advantages:
Enhanced Communication: These conferences provide a direct line of communication for parents and teachers to discuss a student’s progress, strengths, and areas needing
improvement. This can clear up misunderstandings and ensure that everyone is aligned on expectations and goals.
Individualized Support: Teachers can offer insights into specific subjects or skills where a student might excel or struggle, allowing parents to support targeted strategies at home or seek additional resources, like tutoring or extracurriculars, to address gaps.
Academic Goal Setting: Parents, teachers, and students can set academic goals together, helping students stay motivated and accountable. This alignment on goals also reinforces students’ investment in their learning.
Early Intervention: For students struggling academically, emotionally, or socially, these conferences are an opportunity to spot warning signs early. Parents and teachers can then collaborate on intervention strategies or make referrals for counseling or other support services.
Community Building: Conferences encourage a sense of community and partnership between families and the school, which can lead to higher student engagement and parental involvement in school activities, both linked to improved academic outcomes.
