Dear NHS Families and Students,

What an incredible February we experienced together at Niverville High School! Our building was full of energy as students settled into new classes, participated in performances and activities, and continued to grow academically and personally. Moments like our Family of Festivals performances and the many daily learning experiences happening in classrooms remind us just how vibrant and connected our school community truly is.

As we move into March, we also begin to feel the promise of spring. Daylight Saving Time arrives this month, bringing longer evenings and a renewed sense of energy as we move toward the final stretch of the school year.

At NHS, we continue to be guided by our two “Guiding Stars”: Culture and Community. These values shape how we support one another, how we learn together, and how we partner with families to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Thank you for the continued support you provide at home and in our community. It truly makes a difference.

Interim Progress Reports – March 13 (PD Day)

To help families stay informed about student learning, Interim Progress Reports will be issued on Friday, March 13 for students who may be experiencing challenges in their courses.

These reports are sent when a student:

  • Is demonstrating limited progress
  • May be at risk of not earning course credit
  • Would benefit from additional support or intervention

If your child receives an interim report, it is meant as an early communication tool so we can work together to support their success.

Students demonstrating satisfactory progress will not receive an interim report; however, families are always welcome to reach out to teachers at any time to check in on their child’s learning.

Our next full report card will be issued later this spring.

Welcoming Our Future Panthers

March is also an exciting time as we begin welcoming next year’s Grade 9 students into the NHS community.

Upcoming events include:

  • Tuesday, March 3 – Grade 8 Student Orientation (afternoon at NHS)
  • Wednesday, March 4 – Grade 8 Parent Orientation (6:00 PM at NHS)
  • Wednesday, March 4 – Course Presentations for Grade 8 Students
    • Morning: Niverville Middle School
    • Afternoon: Bothwell School

Course selection for incoming Grade 9 students will open March 16 and close March 23.

These events help ensure a smooth and welcoming transition for students and families joining our high school community.

Celebrating Student Creativity

Our Jazz Band and Jazz Choir will be representing NHS at the Brandon Jazz Festival from March 12–13.

This festival is an exciting opportunity for students to:

  • Perform for expert adjudicators
  • Receive professional feedback
  • Connect with other student musicians from across the province

We wish our musicians the best of luck as they showcase their hard work and talent.

Engineering Creativity: Spaghetti Bridge Contest

Our annual Spaghetti Bridge Contest will take place on Tuesday, March 17 in the MPR.

Students will test their engineering skills by designing and building bridges using spaghetti and glue – demonstrating creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in action. Events like this highlight the many ways students can apply their learning beyond traditional classroom activities.

Grad Photo Retake Day

Graduation is quickly approaching for our Grade 12 students, and we want to ensure everyone has the opportunity for a great grad photo.

Grad Retake Picture Day will take place on Wednesday, March 25.

Students should watch announcements and their email for sign-up details.

Looking Ahead: Spring Break

A reminder that Spring Break will take place from Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 3. We hope this week provides students and families with time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time together before we enter the final months of the school year.
