Welcome Back!

I hope that you all had a restful and healthy summer and are ready for the start of a new school year! I always look forward to September and this year is no different. I am really looking forward to seeing our students again and excited about getting everyone back to school.

I do, however, want to acknowledge and respect the varying degree of emotion that comes along with the return to school, because each of you has a different situation and varying circumstances that are important to consider. There is probably some excitement about returning to school, while others may be feeling a little nervous or anxious, but I want everyone to know that we have a great team of teachers and support staff here at NHS that are committed to making our school a great place to be and learn. Although school will look and feel a little different than we’re used to, we will all work diligently to make it a safe place while still striving to make learning meaningful and engaging for each and every one of our students.

I feel confident that we will find our groove quickly and settle into a routine where school feels comfortable again. This is not our new normal but rather a transitory period that we will navigate together to create a strong positive learning community where our students will thrive. The weeks and months ahead are filled with unknowns but we’re ready to face these new challenges and tackle what comes our way.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and support as we open our doors and welcome our students back to school.

All the best,

Kimberley Funk, Principal
