We are all working diligently to make the most of these final two months of school and I want to thank everyone for their ongoing efforts to follow the public health orders and safety protocols at school. It can be wearing at times but so far our diligence has paid off and our school has remained open for in-person learning. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that things continue smoothly until the end of June (insert cautious optimism here 🙂). I also want to encourage our students to remain focused and engaged in their learning right until the end of the school year. As the weather gets warmer it may be tempting to skip out on remote learning days but it is critical that students attend all their classes daily to avoid falling behind. Seven more weeks to go – we can do it!

Here a few things coming up this month:

Course Selection for 2021-22

Course selection for next year will take place from May 14-21. This will be done electronically with Google forms and our current grade 9-11 students will receive a link to their grade specific form in their school email. Our school counsellor, Mrs. Wiebe, will be visiting classrooms next week to explain the selection process and review course requirements and options. The 2021-22 Student Course Guide is available on our website under the student tab for those that want to review course offerings and descriptions.

Celebrating our Grade 12’s

We are excited to announce that we will be “Celebrating our Grade 12’s” on Wednesday, May 26. HSD has granted us permission to host all our grade 12 students on one day to spend some time together and celebrate their upcoming graduation. There will be no remote learning on this day as all staff will be participating in the celebration with the grade 12’s (teachers will provide independent learning opportunities for grade 9-11 students). More details for grade 12 students coming soon!

Victoria Day

There are no classes on Monday, May 24th. We wish our school community a safe, relaxing and enjoyable May long weekend.

That’s it for May news. I wish all the moms a Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday and hope that everyone finds a bit of joy in the warmer weather and rejuvenation of spring.

All the best!
