Well, here we are. It’s June. Two more weeks of classes and that’s it – we made it! It has been such an unpredictable year but somehow we managed to power through and I have to say, I think we all did pretty well, all things considered. I have bragged to my colleagues several times over the year about how great the community of Niverville is and I want to sincerely thank you for your patience, understanding, grace, and support as we navigated this trying time.

Our Grade 12 Celebration Day last week was a total success and I want to extend a big “THANK YOU” to our Parent Advisory Council for providing lunch for our staff and students. Extreme Fries was a big hit and fun was had by all! I would also like to thank the businesses in our community who sponsored prizes for this event – it was greatly appreciated.

Grad 2021 is just around the corner and I’m pleased that we will be able to hold another curbside convocation this year. Many grad ceremonies across the province have been postponed or are being done virtually, so we are very fortunate to be able to hold something a little more personal. Grade 12 parents will receive specific grad details later today.

Here are a few things to note over the next couple of weeks:

Last Day of Classes

Grade 12 – June 18

Grade 9-11 – June 22

Student attendance on June 24 and 25 will be by invite only and will focus on individual and small group learning to wrap up the year.

Report Cards

Term 4 (final) report cards will be issued on Tuesday, June 29 and can be accessed through the HSD Parent Portal. An email reminder will be sent to notify you when they become accessible.

Student Schedules for Next Year

It is our goal to have student schedules ready by the end of June. We will notify students when they are available. Any questions regarding courses or schedules can be directed to our school counsellor Mrs. Wiebe.

Bussing for 2021-2022

In order to organize bus routes for the next school year, HSD Transportation would like to know if you will be moving locations or returning from homeschool.  Please contact their office any time before school starts in September so that they can ensure your child will have transportation set up for the start of the school year. Please call (204) 320-2347 or email hsdtransportation@hsd.ca. They are open all summer.

Bus Drivers Wanted

Are you looking for part time employment or want to start a new career? HSD is looking for spare school bus drivers for all areas in the division. You do not need experience or a class 2 license. HSD will provide training with little cost to yourselves. You can drive as little or as much as you want. In the future regular positions can become available. Please call the transportation office at (204) 320-2347 if you are interested or have questions.

That’s a wrap for 20-21! Wishing you all a healthy and enjoyable summer!
