I’m a little late getting to this month’s message! The week flew by and I realized I had not yet connected with NHS families. I hope this message finds you well. Here at school we are suddenly immersed in all kinds of planning for various events and activities – it’s like someone flipped a switch and it’s GO TIME. We are preparing for a band concert and an art show, organizing learning trips, and will be hosting the first ever NHS dance. Spring is in full swing!

Recent Highlights

The drama performance at the end of April was a huge success with a sold out crowd on both nights. Congratulations to the cast and crew for putting on an entertaining show!

NHS hosted a charity basketball game (today!)between the Niverville Panthers and SRSS Sabres. It was a fast-paced game and the Panthers pulled off a 67-62 win! A big shout out to Ethan Tomlinson for his work on organizing this entire event as part of his Global Issues class. All funds raised will go towards making sports accessible to all NHS students.

Course registration for next year went smoothly and is now complete. We are aiming to have next year’s student schedules ready for the end of June.

Upcoming Events

Band Concert – Thursday, May 26

Please join us in the NHS gym from 6:30-7:30 to hear our students perform their musical numbers for you.

The student leadership team is planning the first ever school dance at NHS. The dance will be held on May 27 from 6:00-9:00 pm in the school gym. This event is for students who attend NHS and will be chaperoned by NHS staff. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at school starting May 9.

Art Show – Thursday, June 2

Our talented students are excited to showcase their art work on June 2. It is a “come-and-go” event from 6:00-8:00 pm and we invite you to this showcase of learning.

Other dates to be aware of:

May 23 – Victoria Day (no school)

June 13 – Admin Day (no school)

June 17 – Last day of classes for Grade 12

June 21 – Last day of classes for Grade 9-11

The students seem to have a little extra energy these days as the sunshine and warm weather has arrived, but it’s great to see all their smiles and laughter. The school has a positive vibe and we love it! It’s hard to believe there are only six weeks of school left.
