Principal’s Message – March 2021

Country singer Luke Bryan sings that “days go slow and years go fast” and although that song (Most People Are Good) was released in 2017 it seems like a fitting sentiment for this particular year. There have been days that have just dragged, especially during the height of the lockdown, but all of a sudden it’s March. How did that happen? The beautiful sunny days we’ve had in the past couple of weeks have provided some feelings of hope and… Read More

Principal’s Message – February 2021

What a pleasure it’s been to have our students back in the school! It’s been so nice to get into classrooms and visit with kids again. They all seem glad to be back too 🙂 … at least for the most part. Principal’s Message – December 2020

Wow, can you believe the weather we’re having?! Winter is not my favorite season but these mild temperatures certainly make it a lot more bearable. In an effort to embrace our Canadian winter, my husband and I bought snow shoes this year, intending to stay healthy and active as we trek through the snow. Just our luck, no snow – but I know it’s coming! Until then I will enjoy the balmy weather 🙂 We are now in our third… Read More

Principal’s Message – November 2020

We all continue to navigate our way through an ever-changing situation and I am proud to see our NHS students, families, and staff taking steps every day to keep each other safe and healthy. We appreciate your continued use of the Covid-19 self-screening tool and that students are staying home when they are sick. Schools continue to be safe in spite of rising case numbers throughout the province. Although our community has moved into the “critical red zone”, I am… Read More

One month in and I’m happy to report that we’ve had a smooth transition back to school and everyone seems to be settling into a comfortable routine. I am very proud of our whole school community, in fact. Our students have done an excellent job of following the Covid protocols and guidelines and, although there are still various challenges and stressors, things are going well. Our teachers have been working hard to help students adjust to their environment and make… Read More

I do, however, want to acknowledge and respect the varying degree of emotion that comes along with the return to school, because each of you has… Read More
